General Information

WEATHER

Although our fishing season is in winter, the weather here is considerably hot. During the day, temperatures can range from 20 to 35 degrees Celsius (68 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit). Usually, our climate is not as humid or hot as that of the Brazilian Amazon because we are in the mountains. This also means that the nights are cool.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

A valid passport is mandatory for entry into Bolivia. Your passport must be valid for at least six months. From February 2021 on, a visa is required for American (USA) citizens. For the most European countries no visa is required but we recommend visiting www.Bolivia-usa.org to check if your country belongs to group 1 (no visa required), group 2 (visa required), or group 3 (visa required). Bolivia has an easy visa procedure and we’ll provide you everything you need to do it.

CURRENCY

The Bolivian peso is about 6.9 BOB per 1 U.S. dollar. Dollar bills in Bolivia are only accepted in perfect (new) condition, without breaks or marks.

INSURANCES

Our company maintains the insurance policies required to operate in Bolivia. Still, we strongly recommend that guests purchase trip cancellation insurance to cover any contingency that prevents travel.

INSECTS

The Bolivian Amazon is surprisingly friendly. There are few mosquitoes and quite a few gnats in the region. As for the other disturbing critters, note that we are in a virgin forest where spiders and other potentially dangerous insects live. We always advise guests to avoid going through dense vegetation in the jungle. We strongly recommend the use of long-sleeved shirts and long pants during the entire stay, and the best way to protect from insects is to apply repellent at least three times a day (morning, noon, and night). We also recommend washing clothes with permethrin before traveling.
