Agua Negra
Five Anglers, Five Big Dorado
Week 15 welcomed five anglers from Switzerland, hosted by Stefan Schmid.
The first three days brought excellent conditions and excellent fishing before heavy rain raised the rivers and delayed the Sécure’s recovery.
But Agua Negra and Chimoro responded differently.
Both systems continued producing strong fishing after the rise, allowing the group to maintain a remarkable level of action throughout the week.
The most striking number tells the story clearly: all five anglers landed at least one dorado over 7 kilograms (about 15 pounds), alongside numerous additional catches.
And several of those fish arrived in moments worth remembering, including a surface take during the rising water and a simultaneous dorado double.
5 Urs, Martin, Christian, Konrad & Stefan (Switzerland). Stefan hosted the group; Martin on his second visit to Tsimane.
The first three days brought very good conditions and excellent fishing. Heavy rain then changed the system considerably, raising river levels and slowing the Sécure’s return to clear water.
After the rise, the Sécure took time to recover its color. Agua Negra and Chimoro, however, remained highly productive and allowed the group to continue finding numerous fish and repeated opportunities during the days following the flood.
The contrast between the systems became one of the defining characteristics of the week.
Catch of the Week
A Surface Take in Rising Water
The largest dorado of the week came during the rain, while the river was rising.
Fishing near the mouth of Agua Negra, Christian connected with a dorado of approximately 8 kilograms (about 18 pounds) on a floating fly.
The take was exceptional.
High water, changing conditions, and a fish of that size taking on the surface combined to produce one of the strongest visual moments of Week 15.
Memorable Moments
Stefan and Urs, Together
Stefan and Urs found themselves connected to dorado at the same time.
The simultaneous hookup produced one of those chaotic, exciting situations where two separate fights become one shared memory.
The Fish Martin Had Been Looking For
On his second visit to Tsimane, Martin finally connected with the large dorado he had been hoping to find.
The fish came from the Lower Agua Negra, making the moment particularly significant after the time and effort invested across two trips.
Konrad on the Way to Camp
While traveling upstream toward the Agua Negra camp, Konrad added another quality dorado to the week’s tally.
The fish became another highlight in a week where every member of the group eventually crossed the 7-kilogram mark.
The Week at Agua Negra
The Sécure took time to recover after the rain, but Agua Negra and Chimoro kept fishing remarkably well.
Five anglers, five dorado over 7 kilograms (about 15 pounds), a surface-eating fish during the rise, and several strong encounters across the system made Week 15 one of consistent quality despite changing water.
