Golden dorado landed at Agua Negra during Week 14

Agua Negra

Week 14  |  September 4 – 11, 2026

As the Rivers Fell

Week 14 brought Arthur, Max, Jonathan, and Devin to Agua Negra.

Arthur and Max traveled from the United States as father and son. Jonathan arrived from London for his third visit to Tsimane, while Devin finally made a trip he had wanted to experience for many years.

The rivers began high after the previous week’s rain, but as levels started falling, the fishing responded quickly.

Chimoro became particularly productive, both Agua Negra camps delivered excellent experiences, and the group found several quality dorado, including two fish competing for the top catch of the week.

Weather

The effects of the previous week's rain were still evident at the beginning of the trip, with rivers carrying high water. As levels fell, fishing conditions improved rapidly and the group was able to enjoy several excellent days.

Water

The rivers started the week high, but the change came quickly once they began to drop. Fishing responded particularly well on the Sécure, around the mouth of Agua Negra, and on the Chimoro, which proved especially productive throughout the week. Both overnight camps at Agua Negra also coincided with strong fishing conditions.

Catch of the Week

Two Fish at the Top

Choosing a single Catch of the Week wasn’t straightforward.

On his third visit to Tsimane, Jonathan produced an exceptional fish: a dorado that ranks among the largest caught at Tsimane this season, adding another major encounter to a relationship with these rivers that has now stretched across three visits.

Devin’s came on the day the group headed toward camp. His fishing began almost immediately at the Agua Negra landing, where a spectacular hunting situation developed and he converted the opportunity into a very large dorado, his biggest fish of the week and one of the defining moments of his long-awaited first visit.

Two anglers, two very different moments, and two fish worthy of sharing the top of the week’s conversation.

Memorable Moments

Father and Son on the River

Arthur and Max shared several excellent days of fishing and had the opportunity to land dorado together.

For father and son, those simultaneous experiences became some of the most meaningful moments of the week.

The Week at Agua Negra

The story of Week 14 was closely tied to falling water.

As levels dropped, the Sécure, Agua Negra, and especially Chimoro responded with increasing activity, producing quality dorado and two excellent camp experiences.

A strong recovery after high water turned into a week filled with opportunities.
