Hunts, Laughs and One Broken Rod
Week 12 brought two good friends from the United States, Jordon and Lee, together with Carlos from Argentina, already a friend of the house, on his third visit to Tsimane.
The rivers were still dropping after the previous week’s high water, creating excellent fishing opportunities as they gradually returned toward normal levels. Carlos finally experienced the hunting situations he had been looking for on previous visits, while the group also found several good chances for pacú.
And the final day still had one last story waiting.
On the Sécure, Jordon connected with a dorado over 20 pounds. The fight became even more memorable when his rod broke before the fish was eventually landed.
Throughout it all, the atmosphere remained as memorable as the fishing, with friends turning missed fish into running jokes rather than reasons for frustration.

Weather remained favorable throughout the week, with sunny days and warm temperatures providing comfortable conditions for fishing and lots of dorado hunting.
The rivers began the week still dropping after the previous week’s high water. While levels remained elevated and continued falling, fishing opportunities were exceptional. As the rivers progressively returned to their normal levels, activity eased somewhat, although fishing remained excellent throughout. There were also several very good opportunities for pacú on both the Sécure and Agua Negra, with one quality fish landed on the Sécure.

The Fish That Broke the Rod
Jordon saved his biggest dorado of the week for the final day.
Fishing the Sécure river, he connected with a fish of more than 20 pounds and found himself in an unforgettable battle.
Then the rod broke.
The fight continued, and the fish eventually made it to the bank, turning an already significant dorado into one of those catches remembered as much for what happened during the battle as for the fish itself.
A fitting final-day encounter, and the largest dorado of the week. It became the perfect final act of Week 12.
Memorable Moments
The Hunts Carlos Came Back For
On his third visit to Tsimane, Carlos finally found the kind of dorado hunting situations he had been hoping to experience on his previous trips.
He enjoyed several strong opportunities throughout the week, making this return particularly rewarding.
Missed Fish, Better Jokes
Not every opportunity became a photograph.
But among friends, that simply became material for the next joke.
Jordon and Lee kept the atmosphere lively throughout the week, constantly teasing one another whenever one of them lost a fish. The missed opportunities became part of the entertainment, creating the kind of atmosphere that matters just as much once everyone is back at the lodge.
Looking Ahead
The week began with rivers still recovering from the previous rise and gradually returning toward their normal levels.
During that transition, the group found excellent dorado opportunities, several chances for pacú, and the hunting situations Carlos had been waiting to experience.
Between great fishing, missed opportunities turned into jokes, and one final battle with a broken rod, Week 12 delivered plenty to remember both on and off the water.
