Friends, Fish and a Lot of Fun
Week 9 brought five longtime friends from the United States to Agua Negra: Glenn, Blue, Mike, Tom, and Eric.
It was a week defined by plenty of fishing, plenty of opportunities, and, above all, plenty of fun.
Many dorado were landed, while some of the larger fish were lost to broken tippets or simply managing to shake free.

The week brought plenty of heat, almost no rain, and mostly clear skies. Some days were particularly warm, while others offered slightly more comfortable temperatures, but overall the conditions were ideal for a full week on the water.
The Sécure remained low but had not yet fully cleared, making fishing there less productive than in the tributaries. Agua Negra and Chimoro were in excellent shape, with clear water and low levels, and responded particularly well throughout the week.

The One After the One That Got Away
Eric had already lost a much larger dorado to a break before finally connecting with another excellent fish.
The second opportunity came good, turning a week that had already included plenty of near misses into a memorable success.
Memorable Moments
The Last Pool of the Day
On a very small river, in the final pool of the day, Eric and the team found a dorado feeding on a riffle.
After losing several large fish earlier in the week, they finally got the chance to approach and present to one at sight. The fish ate, and they landed it. A perfect way to close the day.

On the way to camp, Glenn spotted and landed a dorado at sight on the Lago Negra.
It was a highly visual encounter and one of the week’s standout memories.
The Thousand Falls
And then there was Blue’s endless series of falls.
They became a joke throughout the week, making the entire group laugh and adding another layer to an already memorable trip. Blue took every fall with great humor, contributing as much to the group’s atmosphere as he did to the fishing.
Looking Ahead
With clear tributaries, low water, plenty of dorado, and a group of longtime friends enjoying every opportunity, this was a week where the fishing and the people around it were equally important.
If current weather patterns continue, the Sécure should gradually finish clearing, opening up more productive fishing around its woody structure. The tributaries are already responding very well, and warmer water should bring increasing pacú activity.
